On the Night of Delusion, January 27, 2018, at approximately 7:00 pm, krewedelusion, New Orleans’ hottest and most inclusive, surrealist & satirical Carnival parade, will once again roll through the streets of the Marigny and French Quarter. “The TrySinTennial Bedlam Ball” shall follow at 10:00pm at the Ace Hotel, 600 Carondelet Street. Tickets are available through Eventbrite at:

Last year krewedelusion became the only New Orleans Carnival Krewe in history to ever hit the streets without royalty. Answering its own question, “Who is Fit to Rule?” Captain Oscar Diggs announced today that, “this year, Musician’s Musician, beloved local icon and former Mayor of Gold Hill, Colorado; Mr. Washboard Chaz Leary has been appointed Ruler, has accepted the throne and shall be crowned Emperor of the Thimbles & Captain of New Orleans!

I’m honored to have been chosen,” stated the soon to be Emperor, “I’m a washboard man who plays with thimbles and I’ve gone through thousands of them, a lot of which I have kept. I will give them out along with the doubloons and proclamations as special throws during the parade. We are parading for a peaceful, happy and uplifting 2018!

An unimpeachable example of a successful transplant to New Orleans, Washboard Chaz is best known for his work with The Tin Men, Palmetto Bug Stompers and of course The Washboard Chaz Blues Trio. His humble yet charismatic demeanor, talent and work ethic have earned him a unique position in the New Orleans cultural community.

Keeping its annual parade theme a guarded secret until the kick-off of their parade, krewedelusion has blossomed under what the Times-Picayune described as “a heady self-made philosophy and governance that declares the Big Easy the center of the Universe …” and [by giving their Ruler absolute power of absolutely everything] “takes the time-honored conceit of Carnival royalty to its most literal and absurd endpoint… using the traditional structure of Mardi
Gras as its own satirical platform.” On krewedelusion is described as, “juuuust right”.

As part of their mission to save the Universe, krewedelusion puts the “green” in purple, green & gold by using “mule-free, fuel-free” hand-operated floats and by encouraging its members to give only throws made of naturally abundant or recycled materials.

Krewedelusion‘s TrySinTennial bash is slated to be an extravaganza to delight your senses. Come dance the night away to the tunes of DJ Tree and Vinsantos, a performance by Darling Darla James & Nicole Lynn Foxx not to mention the special guests of the Royal Entourage. Entrance to the Bedlam Ball is included in krewedelusion membership cost. Join an existing innerkrewe through, or start your own innerkrewe by emailing
